Napoleon dynamite trailer

For this project we were all assigned a group whose goal was to recreate a movie trailer. Our group got assigned Napoleon Dynamite which only one of has had seen, but that didn't matter much since we had a trailer to go off of. Once we got together and made a group chat we started on pre-production. For pre-production we separated the tasks among the people in our group. Me and Brogan worked on the production packet, Ava worked on the beat sheet, and Carson worked on the storyboard. Once we had finished all of that we collected the props we needed to film and got a schedule together for when to get the shots.
Next was the production stage where we were fortunate enough to get half of our clips at school. For the other half we had to go to my grandma's house and Manchester Elementary School's playground so that our recreation would be accurate. We got our clips filmed very quickly and gave the to Sean to edit. Once Sean got done editing the video we were very pleased with the results.
During filming I learned how to use the focus on the camera. I also learned that organizing when people are available before hand helps a lot later on when you actually need to film. Something I would change for the next project is contacting extra actors if needed early in the pre-production so that we don't need to struggle to find an actor last second. I would keep the rest of our pre-production the same though because we did a really good job of getting all of our stuff planned out and completed on time.
Next project I will use the knowledge that I have obtained that pre-production is the most important part of producing a video. In conclusion, I believe that I have learned a lot from my experience with this trailer that pre-production though when you do it at first may seem like busy work is very important, and now matter how many people tell you before hand that it is important you will not truly be able to know its importance until after you experience the process of creating a video.
